Original Title: Unter Nachbarn
Synopsis
Starting a new life as a journalist in a city far from home, David appreciates to be warmly welcomed by the neighbour living next door, Robert, a man who proves to be pleasant, yet quite intrusive. The relationship between the two neighbours takes an irreversible turn the night David accidentally kills a young woman. Robert, willing to protect his new friend, pushes him to leave the body and helps hiding the evidence. Nothing shall take away his precious neighbour from him. Not the feeling of guilt. Not the police. And certainly not a woman.

Claude Rieffel
The director demonstrates a manic and pleasing attention to details and knows how to create an atmosphere of perfect anxiety. (…) The success of the film is based primarily on the interpretation of Charly Hübner in the role of the too attentive neighbour. His imposing stature and his voice too readily posed let the audience guess that a dangerous psychopath is hiding behind the seemingly good man, but his disarming children face collecting child soldiers guarantees him a capital of sympathy which makes it all more disturbing.
Kino Zeit
At the beginning an everyday setting is overbearing, but with time the internal tension takes over on screen and leaves no choice to the protagonists but fatal violence. Towards the end the story is full of false tracks and spectacular turns, which denote a standard of a movie better than a TV-crime thriller. There is more to Roberts character than only the psychopath next door. He seems more like a lonely weirdo, who is to clingy. Certainly Charly Hübners interpretation of Roberts character is not one of a psychopath, but a lonely guy who is supposed to deal better with disappointments in real life.
Christian Buß
Director Rick is smart enough to pay attention to the difficult emotional setting. The dialogues are short, the homo erotic undertones subtly, the actors act withdrawn.
