Synopsis
THE BLIND HITMAN is a stylized crossover on the border of genre and arthouse. In the world of a Neo-Noir Berlin, we raise questions about cultural, national and moral identity. In the centre of the story, there is the blind contract killer Momo (Kida Ramadan). When he denies death to a young girl, he derives moral guilt, and things take a terrible turn. In harsh back&white THE BLIND HITMAN dives under the genre surface and reduces the mechanics of gangster film to its symbolic nature. Tough guys, sneaky intrigues, a classic double-cross – but barking dogs don’t bite… or do they?
THE BLIND HITMAN takes up the cudgels for straight storytelling in the notion of film noir. At the same time, it deconstructs classic archetypes like the killer or the godfather. Told in a controversial perspective on migration and crime it reflects current debates in hard-boiled Berlin.

CHRISTOPH GAMPL, DIRECTOR
Born in 1969 Gampl studied drama and directing at Filmuniversität Babelsberg. He wrote short stories for the German edition of Hustler and financed his studies as a freelancer in Berlin’s famous Big Sexyland and as a dishwasher in Tres Kilos, a renowned restaurant for lovers of nightlife.
After a great deal of social experience, Gampl shot BURNING MAN 2020, his first documentary, in San Francisco and the Black Rock Desert in Nevada in 1998. The film was sold to TV stations all over the world and nominated for the IDA Award in Los Angeles. What followed was work for TV and scripts that people found disturbing.
After his feature debut THE ANTMAN in 2002 (premiering at the Berlinale, nominated for Best European Fantastic Picture) Gampl went on to produce and direct in the advertising business for almost 15 years.
Before he went totally crazy, he remembered his roots and returned to filmmaking and storytelling. A THOUGHT OF ECSTASY and KANUN (as producer and editor) he came back to feature film in 2017. With MAN FROM BEIRUT in 2019, he produced and directed a longtime heart project.
